Dr. Chuang, a Chiropractor in Melbourne, Australia states that this disease is common in the first year of life, peaking at 4 months of age (he states regurgitation of at least 1 episode per day in half of 0-3 month olds.
In this study, a 4 month old female was brought in for Chiropractic care. Her MD diagnosed her with GERD, and advised her a medicine called Ranstidine. The mother was hesitant to use the medication, and sought an alternative treatment. This baby also did not any weiight in the last two months.
During the Chiropractic exam, it was determined that the baby had multiple subluxations of the neck.
After the first adjustment, the infant had a large bowel movement, and slept for a longer perood of time
After 3 weeks of Chiropractic care, the number of vomiting episodes and reflux per day decreased. The number of days with vomiting decreased as well
After 4 weeks of Chiropractic care, the baby did not have any more symptoms of reflux or vomiting.
