Chiropractic Decreases your Systolic number by 17, and your Diastolic by 10

Chiropractic and Blood Pressure

Chiropractic spinal adjustments were able to produce a reduction in systolic (first blood pressure number) by 17 mmHg, and a reduction in diastolic (2nd blood pressure number) by 10 mmHg.  This reduction was sustainable over an 8 week period with no adverse side effects.

How does this work:
Stress hormones (norepinephrine) act on alpha receptors that cause one of the muscle layers around the blood vessels (Tunica Media) to constrict (vasoconstriction)

Since Chiropractic decreases the Fight or Flight Response (the Stress response), it relaxes this muscle, taking pressure off the blood vessel...and therefore decreases your blood pressure.

This is like taking pressure off your water hose, you will get more water that flows out.  If you have something around your hose that squeezes the hose, you will have decreased water output
